She has considerable experience in tax compliance and consulting as well as unrelated business income and board governance, and focuses on large multinational organizations, community charities, health care providers, and educational institutions. Pam devotes much of her time to helping for-profit and tax-exempt organizations with unique tax issues, strategic planning, and compliance services. She sits on the firm’s tax committee for not-for-profit organizations and is a leader of the firm’s not-for-profit tax practice in Albuquerque.
Steve has practiced public accounting since 2013, after a 25-year career in publishing and journalism. He serves a wide range of tax-exempt clients, including community charities, arts organizations, hospitals, and private foundations.
Steve works on tax compliance and consulting, including tax research on specific issues affecting the not-for-profit industry. He also writes many of the firm’s articles on topics related to tax-exempt entities.
April has been in public accounting since 2001. She focuses on tax-exempt organizations as well as trust and estate clients. April is a trusted business advisor to her clients, providing compliance and consulting in a variety of areas relating to the Form 990 and charitable estate planning. She is a member of the firm's government, not-for-profit, and private client services groups.
Jonathan Blum is a not-for-profit and tax-exempt organizations attorney in Holland & Knight's Dallas office. Blum's experience includes assisting not-for-profit leaders in managing their legal matters on a broad array of issues affecting charities, foundations, trade and professional associations, advocacy groups, educational organizations, and other not-for-profit organizations. Blum recognizes the importance of concentrating on the key issues affecting clients and moving quickly to identify practical legal options so clients can stay mission-focused and make informed decisions.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Blum worked in the not-for-profit practice group for a national Am Law 100 firm in Dallas, where he served as counsel and later as shareholder. He also spent nearly seven years serving as in-house counsel for tax-exempt organizations, such as a national breast cancer foundation and a private family foundation. In addition, Blum served as a transactional attorney for an international law firm headquartered in New York City. He previously served as an adjunct professor at Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law.
Blum is a frequent speaker on best practices in governance, fundraising, tax compliance, and current developments for not-for-profit organizations.
In addition to his law and undergraduate degrees, Blum has completed course work at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Argentina and Universidad de Carabobo in Venezuela.
